Competitors Briefing a Success!

EMMA Philippines held it’s first competitors briefing on June 11, 2017 at the HIT Productions Inc. Studios in Makati City, Philippines.

In previous years, EMMA Philippines has held judges training for the education of world class standard judges which have been privileged to have been invited to many regional events in Asia, such as in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, China and Thailand. While the caliber of our judges now is quite high, EMMA Philippines has also recognized the need for a more informed audience.

The launch of the competitor’s briefing series is a move by EMMA Philippines to bring the competition down to the grass roots, providing all the information needed by anyone to compete in an EMMA competition. As in all competitions, knowing the rules and understanding how points can be scored is a key part of a formula for success.

With this in mind, over 20 competitors joined the training session, which was led by a team of some of EMMA Philippines’ international Head Judges who have received their training from EMMA Global in Europe. Topics covered during the training included a history of EMMA as an organization, understanding the EMMA competition format and categories, a briefer on how sound quality is judged, a briefer on how installation quality is judged, as well a modules on all other EMMA formats including EMMA SPL (ESPL) and EMMA Sound Quality League (ESQL).

Not limited to just a classroom season, the training was also done where it counts the most; In 4 demo cars where groups of 3 to 4 competitors were accompanied by a certified judge to go through the paces of how judges evaluate cars for sound and installation. It was during these practical sessions where most of the Q&A took place as well.

With the success of this first competitors briefing, EMMA Philippines is confident that bringing this briefing series to other areas will be extremely beneficial to all competitors. The next competitors briefing will be scheduled soon, so please watch out for announcements on the EMMA Philippines website and Facebook for more information.
